My thoughts on the popular mobile app, YouTube

    I have learned alot of things using YouTube and I have wasted alot of time on it as well. YouTube is a very popular app that lets people watch and share videos from all over the world. You can find videos about almost anything: music, gaming, how-to tutorials, news, and more. The app is used by millions of people every day, and it’s easy to understand why. It’s fun, simple to use, and has a clean design.

    When you open the YouTube app, the first thing you see is the "Home" page. This page shows videos that are recommended for you based on what you’ve watched before. It’s a great way to discover new content that matches your interests. At the bottom of the screen, there are tabs like "Home," "Shorts," "Subscriptions," and "Library." These tabs help you move around the app quickly and easily. For example, if you tap "Subscriptions," you’ll see new videos from the channels you follow.

    Watching a video on YouTube is super easy. Just tap the video you want to see, and it will start playing. You can make it full screen, pause it, rewind, or fast-forward. You can also press the "Like" button, leave a comment, or share the video with your friends. If you really like a video, you can save it to a playlist to watch later. The layout is simple and makes it easy for anyone to use.

    Even though YouTube is a great app, there are some things that could be better. Here are three ideas to improve it:

    Start on Subscriptions Page – Right now, the app opens to the "Home" page. But if you mostly watch videos from the channels you’re subscribed to, it would be more helpful if the app started on the "Subscriptions" tab. That way, you can see the latest videos from your favorite creators right away. The screenshot below shows the initial logon page upon opening YouTube.

    Make Icons Clearer – Some of the icons in the app look very similar but do different things. This can be confusing, especially for new users. Making each icon more unique would help people understand what each one does without having to guess.

    Organize Videos Better – On the Home page, you have to scroll down a lot to find different types of videos. It would be easier if videos were grouped into categories that you could scroll through sideways. For example, there could be rows for gaming, music, news, and more. This would help people find what they’re looking for faster. There are categories at the very top as you can see in the following screenshot though.

    Overall, YouTube is a great app that’s fun, useful, and easy to use. It’s a place where anyone can learn something new, laugh at funny videos, or keep up with their favorite creators. With a few small changes, the app could be even better for everyone who uses it.
